Last june 2015, Professor Dr. Blas Garrido Fernandez from the Electronics Department of the University of Barcelona, invited our director Djamila Olivier Gonzalez to dictate a seminar about the Applications of 3D Printing in the manufacturing of Electro Optical Components. The attendees, fellows, researchers and phD students of current european and national research projects were very interested in the understanding of the scope, technology, limitations and applications of the additive manufacturing techniques. At the seminar after showing the state of the art of the Additive Manufacturing techniques, the micro additive manufacturing methods for applications such as waveguides, microlenses arrays or microparts like microfluidic devices, micrometric magnetic turbines and other nano devices were shown.
In words of profesor Garrido, the 3D Printing opens the possibilities of incredible new achievements for the electro-optical systems and the understanding of the scope of the 3D Printing techniques is of capital importance to take advantage of this manufacturing technique. The development of new materials will be driven by special applications like the electro-optical devices and the interdisciplinary collaboration is also very important.
The attendees received the Voxeled Materials Guide for Additive Manufacturing Methods and they were also invited to join the Voxeled Materials User´s Group, a networking group created for promoting sinergies and collaborations between the technical 3D Printing community.
Voxeled Materials is devoted to provide training and consulting services for the materials developers and researchers interested in implementing new research lines for their projects and creating innovative developments that can take advantage of the additive manufacturing and 3D Printing techniques.
