E-Nable BCN Engineering Community to be launched at the In(3d)ustry 2016
The e-Nabling the future global foundation is a publicly findable, privately joinable/readable community seeking to develop a distributed pay-it-forward network for design, customization, and fabrication of 3D-printed prosthetics. The e-NABLE community is fueled by mutual respect, support, and goodwill. For that reason, community culture is critical. So the members are encouraged to keep some guidelines in mind.

Working from the United States of America, the virtual participation upon the community is open worldwide. Here in Barcelona, Djamila Olivier, director of Voxeled Materials Consulting and Dr. Antonio Travieso from the Manufacturing and Materials Development & Research Group of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia agreed working together for the creation of a local platform to coordinate, host and mirror the E-nabling the Future initiatives from Barcelona to any patient or volunteer interested to engage with this heart moving collaborative group. During four months they have been working on the project with the help of two engineering students developing their final projects and right now the first case and prosthetic device is ready to be delivered.
A real case from our community
Lesly had been singing at the Christmas chorus at the main church at Castelldefels together with the Djamila Olivier´s daughter one year ago. She was born with her left arm incomplete, without a hand. The Enable´s team asked Mossen Xavier, the leader of the local church of Castelldefels to contact Lesly and her family to offer her this opportunity. Lesly and her mother were very glad about having a new device and since then they have been meeting the team for realizing the necessary measurements for the prosthetic design. She is very happy and keen to learn how to use it as soon as possible!
Next June 22th the new E-nable community: “E-Nable BCN Engineering” will be presented at the In(3d)ustry event inside the Makers PRO area to all the makers and industrial community that might be interested in joining and engaging with this human driven initiative.
